It was called an icon party, but there were no icons there.

Hi my union (SAG-AFTRA) is going on strike to protest unfair labor practices and there haven’t been many jobs since end of May. I’ve been looking for work and applying to jobs in the meantime. I have a few bills piling up and my goal is $300. The AMPTP wants us to experience homelessness in order to get us negotiating. As per strike agreements, we are NOT allowed to file unemployment. Therefore, pls help us take a stand in showing solidarity via canceling streaming subscriptions, tweeting your support, picketing, or donating to your black actors/writers. Anything is greatly appreciated!

“writers deserve attention more than actors” literally only 2% of actors can pay the bills with acting. For every megastar on screen there are a dozen other people in the shot who are SAG. Acting gets so glamorized but there are SO MANY people in SAG who NEED residuals to live on. Background Party Girl #4 needs her check too!!!! There are people who play recurring characters on syndicated shows who cant afford health insurance!!! Ke Huy Quan gave an oscar winning performance and LOST HIS HEALTH INSURANCE the next year.

dykerory:

just a reminder that you do not know the names of most of the people in SAG-AFTRA. They are not multi-millionaire A-Listers, not even beloved D-listers with a cult following. They are ordinary people struggling to make a living, living paycheck to paycheck just like the majority of WGA members. The push for SAG to strike was from the bottom up and that is who we have to thank for this moment of entertainment labor solidarity.

Donate to the Entertainment Community Fund to support those striking, as well as teamsters and IATSE members affected by the strikes
